Who You Callin' Fat?

in

Wii Fit is already getting itself into trouble with its determination of who's overweight and who's not. Word is that a little girl in the UK was labeled by the game as overweight. Her height? 4'9". Her weight? 84 lbs. Of course, this has gotten a few people up in arms online, criticizing a game they haven't even played yet.

Sore Loser

We are truly elated for Nintendo pioneer Shigeru Miyamoto. Thanks to the votes of the public, Miyamoto was catapulted to the number one spot on Time Magazine's "Time 100" poll, held online. Considering that Stephen Colbert came in third on Time's list, his actions should not come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the man and his show.

Rock Band Track Pack

in

Worried about picking up the not-yet-released Rock Band for the Wii because there won't be any DLC? Well, on July 15 you'll be able to pick up 20 more tracks for the game for $29.99. This seems a little fishy since the game itself launches only a few weeks earlier on June 22nd. Here's some highlights from the track list:

30 Seconds to Mars - "The Kill"
All American Rejects - "Move Along"
Blink 182 - "All The Small Things"
Boston - "More Than a Feeling"
Faith No More - "We Care A Lot"
Grateful Dead - "Truckin'"
KISS - "Calling Dr. Love"
Nine Inch Nails - "March of the Pigs"

Ys

Remember the Turbografx-16 console from the early 90s? There's some new speculation on yet another Hudson game, but this time it's one that was released on the ancient (yet cool) console. The Turbografx-16 CD-Rom version of the title Ys Book I & II may be coming to the Wii soon.

EA & The Balance Board

in

As the U.S. release of Wii Fit approaches, the Balance Board's buzz is increasing exponentially. The device is now poised to smash the Wii Wheel as the second-most desired accessory/controller after the Wiimote itself. This is proven by EA Sports' embrace of the BB for their new Freestyle brand.

Freestyle will be a departure similar to EA Sports BIG and the first game will be a boxing game called FaceBreaker. The second game under the brand will be Balance Board-compatible that will offer a "Western" exercise alternative to Wii Fit's "Eastern" approach. Hey, the more the merrier.

Wii Gets The Boot(leg)

in

Arr! The Web is full of pirates of all stripes. Some offer movies, some music, some software. Of course, it's all illegal (hence the name), but one can't help but raise an eyebrow or two upon hearing that the pirates have made their way to the Wii. First, the Virtual Console games were cracked with the now-infamous Twilight Hack, now it's WiiWare.

GameStop's At It Again

in

I don't know about you, but I like free stuff. I like free games as well as free DVDs. GameStop isn't giving away games, so can guess what their new promo is. The game retailer is handing out free promotional DVDs for the upcoming Wii Fit.

If you haven't seen much of the plentiful footage online that show off the new title, go pick up this DVD. It's a good wa

Nintendo's Short Memory

in

Lack of memory. For some Wii owners, it's a serious problem that has them tearing their hair out and wanting to punt the Wii across the room. It's also the reason that Guitar Player III and Rock Band can't offer downloadable tracks as the companies clear them. Finally, it looks like Nintendo is taking a step in the right direction with a recent announcement.

Person Of The Year

in

Time Magazine has opened voting for this year's Person of the Year to its readers online. There's been a big push in the gaming community, especially Wii bloggers, to garner votes for Nintendo's living legend, Shigeru Miyamoto. After weeks and weeks of voting, the result are in.

Wii Games No Fun?

in

It was only a matter of time before the Wii experienced a good healthy round of backlash after all the hype. In this case, it just may be well-deserved, too. Website Gamefunk has concluded some polling and come to the conclusion that 11% of Wii games are "good" games, compared to 26% for the Xbox 360, and 33% for the PS3.
