You know, there is a reason why 60FPS rendering has been an issue for long. Arcade kings like Sega and Namco have been packing some cutting edge hardware inside there machines to power up composite scenes up to sixty times a second. While it may help to know, that some of the companies that designed the consoles, also had military affiliations, building the simulators for training of vehicles and weaponry.
Unlike our LCD monitors, the CRT displays had a much evoked sense of response. So while they were refreshing at 60fps, the rapidly flashing screens were good enough to keep your eyes on the screens. Besides, 60FPS rendering has some other merits to make it a promotion point.
