Corporate intellectual property is a dangerous and sometimes dirty game. It's always been like this since the beginning of business, so it's not surprising to hear about a suit filed against Microsoft for patent infringement. What is surprising is to see Nintendo's name listed alongside them as a defendant.
Anascape Ltd. filed against both companies, but Microsoft settled their suit before the case went to court. Nintendo, however, was left on the hook to answer to accusations of infrigement on Anascape's technology, used in the Wavebird, Classic, and GameCube controllers. Bottom line is, a federal jury ruled that Nintendo's gotta cough up $21 million. Wow.
